Tired of the latest fad coffees and looking for healthy, energizing drink?
Something new is hitting coffee shops across Redhill and Reigate in Surrey.
It's bubble tea!
Bubble T Mania was born after the owners, Greg and Kate, became crazy about bubble tea. What began as a dream eventually morphed into reality with the of opening of their own tea bar - offering authentic bubble tea from Taiwan, the birthplace of bubble tea.
Bubble Tea is the name given to the
wide variety of refreshing flavoured fruit teas and milk teas served ice cold or piping hot with chewy natural tapioca balls, that you suck trough a large straw.
Black balls of chewy tapioca are what make bubble tea such an interesting experience. These pearls are about the size of small marbles and they sink to the bottom of your cup.
Before handing out bubble tea drinks, Greg often shakes it to mix the flavours which results in little foamy "bubbles" forming at the top of the drink. This is why you can still order a "Bubble Tea" without the Tapioca Balls.
In addition to tapioca pearls you can try wide range of jellies such pineapples, coconut (high in dietary fibre) and exciting Juice Pobbles.
Bubble tea is not simply a beverage to quench your thirst, when you add flavour and extras it almost becomes a sweet treat or dessert.
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, a number of clinical studies indicate that both green and black teas protect against cancer and it is believed that the many polyphenols in tea are especially effective in warding off cancer by destroying cancerous cells.
The green tea used in bubble milk tea has also been linked to reducing inflammatory bowel disease, treating diabetes and may help you lose weight by boosting metabolism and burning fat cells.
If you needed an extra reason to drink Bubble tea - other than it tastes great - it also comes in a sealed pot so you can grab one in the morning and save it till lunch. Or pick it up on the way home and not spill a drop.
