This year's Taste Cumbria Food Festival is expected to see over 30,000 food lovers flock to Cockermouth on 29th - 30th September 2012 to taste the fantastic foods the region has to offer.
As well as over 100 exhibitors showcasing regional produce, the festival promises two days packed full of foodie fun, demonstrations, masterclasses and entertainment from a number of big names and chefs, including James Martin, Simon Rimmer, Observer and One Show regular, Jay Rayner, and Cumbria's very own Simon Rogan and Peter Sidwell.
Cumbrian chef, Peter Sidwell, will be sharing culinary secrets with festival goers and demonstrating recipes from his Simply Good Family Food cookbook, as well as Cumbrian inspired recipes.
A particular interest of Peter's is baking and this passion has seen him travel around the UK for ITV programme 'Britain's Best Baker' which is to grace our TV screens later this year.
Peter's uses accessible ingredients which are always focused around what's on the door step.
Peter will be cooking a selection of dishes at two demonstrations on Sunday 30th September using his unique approach to cooking and a fantastic selection of local produce.
Equipped with 17 years of experience as a chef, Peter's recipes include BBQ Cumbrian pork, potted smoked West Cumbrian salmon carbonara, mocha whirls and blackberry crumble pots.
As well as running a restaurant, Peter Sidwell @Rheged Cafe, he also writes cookery books and runs a cookery school outside Keswick.
The festival is free to attend with some ticketed events.
Festivals not only make a huge contribution to the economy, but also generate local pride and a sense of community, which is why Allerdale Borough Council has committed to supporting what promises to be a fantastic festival for food and drink lovers.
Taste Cumbria has to be one of the best, if not the best, culinary festivals in a county that is renowned for the quality of its local produce; I am looking forward to experiencing a great weekend of events.Councillor Alan Smith, Leader of Allerdale Borough Council
