Real Food Festival 2012 takes over the Southbank Centre

Taking over the whole Southbank Centre site, along the river Thames and around the Royal Festival Hall, the Real Food Festival is going outdoors!

This year the Real Food Festival will take place on the 28th - 30th September 2012 running in association with Southbank Centre, the UK's largest and most important arts and cultural centre, and will be showcasing some of the finest small producers in the country plus the best street food vendors on the scene, top chefs, live animals and music!

You can see some pictures from last year's Real Food Festival from hand-made chocolates to the finest artisan cheeses, chutneys, proper sausages, olive oils, charcuterie, regional specialities and delights and the most creative street food vendors - the Real Food Festival celebrates the very best, passion-driven sustainably and ethically produced food.

The Real Food Festival is FREE to attend and is a melting pot of over 150 carefully selected food and drink producers showcasing the very best the British Isles has to offer.

You'll see everything from artisan breads and cheeses, slow reared meat direct from the farm, a mountain of fresh seasonal fruit and veg, sustainably caught fish and a host of other stalls selling cakes, charcuterie, preserves and fine wines, spirits and beers to drink.

The Real Food Festival is unlike any other food event.

The producers are chosen based on quality not their ability to pay. A lot of the best producers are so small they don't have money to spend on coming to events so the festival subsidies their attendance. This means you'll see only the very best producers that you won't find anywhere else.

Get up close and personal and be inspired by some of the best chefs around at the Real Food Chef Theatre. This year the demo stage is located in the wonderful riverside location of the Queen's Walk, under the London Eye and overlooking the Houses of Parliament.

With a great line-up of chefs gracing the stage you can see two Michelin starred Atul Kochar, Jun Tanaka, Cyrus Todiwala and Ben Tish as well as learn about 'natural' wine in a tasting with Isabelle Legeron (MW)

Enjoy real music as well as real food at the Festival on the live music stage with singer/songwriters performing their own music - no karaoke 'X Factor' bands, just real musicians performing their own material.
