Bathroom Disasters and How to Deal with Them

Bathrooms are no longer the place where we just manage our hygiene. Of course, there is still that element, but more than that, it can be our little slice of paradise when done right! Not many people have an aversion to a super-hot bubbly bath while watching their favorite tv program and a room in the house with a lock on it, which makes sense as to why it is a special room in our home that should be taken care of. So, what happens when we face some bathroom disasters, and the feng shui is all off?

There is no need to worry, as this piece will talk you through some common problems and what you can do to solve them.

Let’s get into it!

1)   Mold

Mold is one of the most common and irritating issues that we can get in our bathrooms, and it can actually cause serious health problems when left untreated.

Mould is a product of damp, and what room gets more damp than a bathroom?
The way to treat this issue is to treat the mold but then solve the root cause.

If you find you are not getting enough ventilation, opening your windows after every time you have had a bath or shower will allow any steam to vacate the room instead of festering.

If you do have an extractor fan, make sure it is working to its best capacity, or it may need replacing. These are the most common reasons for mold build-up in your bathroom, but if you find that doesn’t help, contact a professional for their opinion.

2)   A Burst Pipe or Flooding

Burst pipes are a true disaster when it comes to anywhere in the house, but the bathroom is a prime spot for things to go really wrong.

If you find that a pipe has burst and you are fast on your way to a flooded bathroom, the first step to take is to turn off the main water valve to stop any more water from coming through. From there, you might be able to assess what has gone wrong.

If you can locate the burst or crack, use a temporary sealant to stop any further water spill.

The likelihood is that you will need to consult a professional to work out what went wrong and how you can prevent it from happening again.

3)   Bothersome Blockages

Blockages can be a real issue when it comes to any room, but the bathroom toilet is definitely one of the last places you would choose to have a problem. Our default mode is to continuously flush a blocked toilet in the hope that it will rectify itself, but more often than not, you could be making it much worse.

Try a plunger by all means, but if this does not appear to be a simple, quick fix, then be sure to contact a professional to help prevent further damage and blockage.
